I'd Love to See Brazil
68When I first joined Hubpages, I really enjoyed the requests feature. For quite some time I had not been writing. I wasn't enjoying the process of putting my hands on the keyboard and producing articles or literary rubbish. I was neither fulfilled nor content with the way that things were going for me as a writer, but I was uninspired and blocked.
The requests section of this site changed that for me. It was because of the requests that I initially began to write again, and write frequently. In the beginning I published a few hubs a day. Now my goal is one a day except on the days that I am working on improving older hubs. This is one of the hubs that I felt needed a major facelift.
The answer is so personal that I felt as though I could do this (explain myself). I fear that the duration of this hub is going to be somewhat brief, pending my ability to amend it with another, attached, hub. I hope, however, that you will enjoy this insight into who I am and will return to read more of my hubs, most of which are informative articles. I appreciate all of my fans and readers!
As a side note, if you would like to join in the fun, please join Hubpages.
I Have been Blessed
Before I begin to say anything on the subject of where in the world I would want to live if money wasn't an issue, I would like to state emphatically that I feel truly blessed to have been born and raised in the United States of America. I love the country in which I grew up and I am proud to be an American citizen!
I would not now trade my citizenship for anything in the world. Whether or not I like the government of the time or the direction in which the country is going politically, I love this country for natural and social reasons. I am young, and yet in my heart I have a biological memory of what our country was in its early days.
I am, however, a natural explorer, a lover of culture, and someone who wants to learn as much as possible about other parts of the world. This country might be my favorite place on earth (and I have lived in another country as well!), but we all have to make our decisions about what is best for us and for our family. For me, the United States is the best place I could possibly live.
But that doesn't stop me from wanting to explore!
There's Something about Brazil
There are so many countries on this earth that I would love to see. I am fascinated by Japan and China, India and Russia. Egypt calls my name loudly and clearly, and my heart longs to visit Kenya. Each one of these wonderful places is decidedly unique and beautiful and each has something wonderful to offer. If a country is defined by its people, there is not a country on earth that isn't wonderful and inviting in some way or another. The world is simply full of beautiful people, beautiful lands and beautiful promises. I wish I could spend a year in every country in the world and still have time to come home to stay in the USA.
I don't have time for that, though. I've spent nearly three years in Cornwall and that was an experience like no other I have ever had. I would return there, as well, except that it has been done, and there is no adventure. So I have chosen Brazil.
One of the things that most appeals to me about Brazil is its location. Because I am a culture junkie, there is simply so much to love about South America. One can still find tribal cultures in this part of the world that function just as they did hundreds (or thousands) of years ago. I am intrigued by the religion and the culture of the tribal peoples of South America and Africa.
South America holds an interesting and special interest for me due to a few factors:
1. I went to grade school with a Brazilian.
Yup. Seriously. I went to grade school with a girl who was born in Brazil and moved to the US when she was very young. She moved back to Brazil when we were in the eighth grade and I loved to hear her talk about her country and share information about where she was going to be living when she returned.
2. My cousin lived there for a year.
My oldest cousin on my mother's side spent a year in Brazil after high school. She had studied Spanish in high school and had gone on an exchange program to Spain for a few weeks, and when she graduated decided to do an exchange in Brazil. While there, she learned to speak fluent Portugese and learned a lot about their culture.
The pictures she brought back and the experiences that she shared fascinate me. I would love to get to know the people she got to know and begin to really understand the civilized South American culture!
3. I love Irene's Corner.
I know, it's strange, isn't it? I first fell in love with Irene's Graphics and then fell in love with her and her country. This is a really great woman who creates country clipart on her computer with her mouse. Her drawing is fantastic and I recommend that anyone interested in country graphics go ahead and check out Graphics by Irene (from her homepage).
I've gotten to know a bit about Brazil from her site and what I've learned, I love! Thanks Irene!

Another super keen neato Hub.
Yet another country I'll have to track down Nat Geo material to appreciate more of. ;)
